Whenever I'm in a public space where I Love Lucy is being shown on a TV set---airport lounges, post offices etc.---almost always the entire assemblage (punks, Hassids, slackers, DINKs, et al) tends to come together as one, trading knowing laughter, nudging one another with elbows, etc. A truly shared, worldwide common cultural experience. Perhaps the only one! Just about everyone on the planet---dig those Russian subtitles---knows and loves Lucy (still on the air in more than 77 countries).
I still retain sense memory of seeing this episode on TV the first time it was aired. I was but mere protoplasm in Buster Brown Shoes, but I haven't ever laughed so hard before or since.
