Jazz singer Ann Baker. .

. . .was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in 2008. When I knew her back in my hometown of Charleston, West Virginia, little did realize that she had such an illustrious past trailing behind her; some of which I wrote about in a 2008 post on this blog. Here she is---she had it all---in a clip from the 1947 film, Rhythm in a Riff.

Do you know where I can find any recordings of Ann?

There are a couple of tracks with Basie and one with Miles Davis. Check their discographies. There was also an NPR radio doc about her. Probably has some tracks. Can't recall the name right now, but check around. You should be able to find it. Maybe "Fresh Air" or "Mountain Stage."
